What Is SharkMedia?

SharkMedia is an open-source, cloud based web service developed by Kaltura. It is designed to act as a platform to centrally manage all your digital media in the form of audio, video, and image files. Content uploaded into SharkMedia is automatically optimized for playback across numerous devices and can be made available within Blackboard Learning Management System, the SharkMedia website, and AppCentral.

The system has a 4 hour limitation for recordings done with the CaptureSpace tool; however, there is no file size limitation uploading media files created with other tools.

There is no cost to you for the use of SharkMedia.

Who Can Use SharkMedia?

  • Faculty & Staff: Faculty and staff have access to login, use CaptureSpace, upload content, manage recordings, add them to Blackboard Learn, and AppCentral, as well as enable previous Blackboard courses to appear in the student archives in AppCentral-SharkMedia.
  • Students: Student access to to upload content will be available through the use of SharkMedia within Blackboard courses. Students will also have access login and to view content within SharkMedia based on their entitlements to certain channels within the site.
  • General Public: Anonymous users will have access to certain channels within SharkMedia that are made available to the general public. An example of such is the About NSU channel.

Terms And Conditions Of Usage

All content uploaded into SharkMedia must conform to Nova Southeastern University's Terms of Service, Information Security Acceptable Use Policy, and the policies and guidelines located on the Office of Copyright website.
